On Sex and Evolution and Politics

Brilliant, enlightening, informative. You have a way of saying things that I've said often myself, but in a way that makes me completely rethink what I was saying.

You're revealing complexities in the science of natural selection that I doubt few have considered in any circumstance, that the science of psychology complicates biology. It is a very valid point that Love, and nurturing are natural phenomena, which makes sense. A similar thought comes when we ask ourselves why human females don't have a mating season like most other mammals? The answer is simple, but not what I expected... it is because the ability to have sex all year makes the man stay close. The implications of this natural law are quite profound when one thinks about it.
Thank you, Tony for your kind words.

Year-round sexual receptiveness certainly does have that effect, but there are plenty of lifetime monogamous species that have rutting seasons, so it's not clear that that is the sole reason. Perhaps the fact humans rely on conscious thought and free will more than instinct weakens the impact of instinct and thus calls for another motivating factor. Or maybe there is a Creator, one who values pleasure.

Who knows.
